GOODBYE 2014

Hi Eveyone

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

I did my last two gigs of the year this weekend in Belfast and Dublin with Smokie, thoroughly enjoyable and a great way to end a year of live gigs.
2014 has been enjoyable, and it would seem that Smokie fans continue to support the band rain or shine and the enthusiasm you all show night after night is quite heartwarming . . . . Thank you all !!!

Our gigs in India at the end of this year were quite spectacular and I shall remember those gigs for a long long time to come. I am encouraged to hear that there are ongoing discussions for Smokie to return to India in 2015.

The last year has shown that the demand for Smokie across the World is; quite staggering and new territories jumping on board means that our travel horizons still broaden.

I was disappointed that Smokie didn't manage to release the album that is currently in the making. That should be rectified quite soon . . . (Hopefully)

During the summer months I spent a lot of time round the swimming pool in Spain, but somehow I managed to pen a few ideas that would eventually turn into songs for my new solo album.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Recording started on  "VISITING MR. JOHNSON" in September, and I recorded songs in the UK and in the United States. I love cutting tracks live with the other musicians, seeing and hearing those ideas come to life.

Working with Blue Miller has been a great experience and I can see why he won a Grammy and has the respect of all the musicians in Nashville. I'm really hoping that his experience will help guide my songs in the right direction.
Stuart McReedie took care of business in the UK and he got the album of to a flying start . . . he kept us all in check and I think the quality of his work will be clearly heard when the album is finished. He produces a drum sound that is something else !! . . . . Stuart produced the Fratellis and works with Texas and Simple Minds.

In January I head back to Nashville to record three more tracks with Blue, before finishing the album in the UK in February . . . so we are close to being finished.
I'm hoping to get the artwork done and hopefully announce a release date soon.

Please go onto Facebook and "LIKE" the "Visiting Mr. Johnson" . . . The brand new album by Mick McConnell page. . . . .here you get all the updates and stories of an album in the making.

2015 tour dates will also be updated this week.

Best Wishes  and a Happy New Year
Mick

Hello Mick, Like you I was disappointed that the new Smokie album was not released last year so I could get a copy while I was in the UK but have no doubt it will be worth waiting for when it does get finished. I'm also really looking forward to your new solo album being released and will keep a look out for when it will be available to buy. 2015 looks like being a good year for new music already. Happy New Year to you, Arlene
