A reminder of my past

You'd think that for a guy who travels all the time, it would be the last thing I'd want to do is get on another flight instead of staying at home . . . but a trip to Athens the capital of Greece I couldn't pass it up.
Needless to say I enjoyed being a tourist, and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Athens.

The Acropolis is one of the most known landmarks in the world, but when I went there it took me back 31 years to when I stood there last, with John Kewley an old friend and drummer with "The Blades".
All those years ago, we drove in beat up Mercedes truck with PA, lights and guitars in the back, we had no credit cards and relied on gigs before the tour started to pay our way, needless to say we always had to carry loads of cash !! . . .  We had very few fancy hotels and getting through customs was more of a bribing game rather than business like affair and sometimes could be quite scary.
I tried this time . . . all these years on, to re-create the photo I had with John and it gave me a real reminder of my fun times being a hard working musician in the very early eighties.
We played 5 concerts in Athens and 2 concerts in Nea Makri on the mainland, before we caught the ferry to the island of Crete.
Great times that I have fond memories of.
